In the early years of CCTV the systems were designed and installed around products based on analogue technology. In recent years there has been a move towards Digital Technology particularly in respect of Video Recording. These advances in CCTV technology are turning video surveillance into one of the most valuable loss prevention, safety/security and management tools available today.
However, there are many existing CCTV systems which still use old technology cameras, and video recorders and many of the potential benefits of CCTV cannot be realised because of the limitations of the technology. New opportunities for CCTV are growing as fast as the technology that makes it all possible.
Many of these existing systems are suitable for a digital upgrade, by replacing the existing VCR/Multiplexer combination with a new Digital Video Recorder. This relatively simple upgrade will immediately bring some or all of the benefits of a Digital System.
